Beer was brewed in Velké Meziříčí as early as in the first half of the 16th century, when King Ferdinand granted the brewing right to the town. The mini-brewery brews a beer called Harrach.

Jelínkova vila hotel & brewery was built and put into operation in the years 2003 and 2004. The first brewing took place there on 9 April 2004. After 55 years, the brewery continued the long tradition of brewing beer. By volume of production, the brewery falls in the category of mini-brewery. There are Czech type beers  as well as beers of foreign types. All the beers without exception are unfiltered and unpasteurized, contain no preservatives and are brewed using a traditional method and Czech variant from brewhouse to fermentation room and cellar.

Velké Meziříčí beers bear the name Harrach, who was the former owner of the castle brewery, Count Franz Alfred Harrach. Beer can be tasted in the stylish local restaurant, which includes a brewhouse and where brewing is carried out during normal operation.
