SVĚTLÁ NAD SÁZAVOU CHATEAU

...during the Baroque period up until the beginning of the 20th century. It is a unique collection of European glass that has never been exhibited in such a grand scale and quality. In addition to the interesting works of Bohemian glassmakers, particularly from Světlá nad Sázavou, the exposition is also enriched with the glass creations of French, German and Italian producers. The exhibition includes not only luxury decorative objects, but also glass objects "for everyday and festive occasions" such as historic baby bottles, fly traps or bottles for luxury perfumes. Visitors can look forward to exceptionally valuable and beautiful exhibits that are a testament to the mastery of glassmakers through the ages.

The courtyard of the château is decorated with an original sculpture entitled A Tribute to Glassmakers, which was created by artists from the Vysočina region as well as other parts of the country. It consists of more than a hundred glass spheres, some of which are original works by the artists Exnar, Hora, Jabůrek, Janák, Pačinka, among others. The concept of the sculpture was devised by Havlíčkův Brod artist Jan Exnar. It is based on the fact that every glass work originates from a blown bubble. Each individual sphere of the sculpture thus represents one glassworks, one artist.

Another tour offers an exhibition of historical clocks and baroque paintings and sculptures. Both parents and children will enjoy the Children's Kingdom exhibition of toys, a fairy-tale interactive circuit on the Sázava River or escape games on the theme of ancient Greek myths.

An extensive gallery offering glass from across the Vysočina region for sale is installed in the château's information centre.

The château's landscaped English-style park with a cascade of ponds is also worth seeing. After the tour, you can relax in the cosy café or stay in one of the luxurious château suites.

In Světlá nad Sázavou, tourists should not miss the medieval underground passages, the Jewish cemetery, the Turkish pavilion, the Church of St. Wenceslas or the Na Půdě gallery. And of course a tour of one of the many glassworks is sure to be of interest.
