THE HORÁCKÁ GALLERY IN NOVÉ MĚSTO NA MORAVĚ

A selection of the work of glass artist Jaroslav Svoboda (attic gallery), including his original works, objects created for symposiums as well as items from his own collection which he created before 1989 in Škrdlovice and then later in his private glassworks in Karlovy Vary.

The gallery has been managing glass collections since 1979. The original intention was to document the work of the glass artists of the nearby glassworks in Škrdlovice. The circle of craftspeople whose works were displayed was gradually supplemented, for example by transferring the collection of original glass creations from the already closed District Museum in Žďár nad Sázavou. After the privatisation of the Škrdlovice glassworks, a large set of designs for mass production was taken into the collections and during liquidation of the Beránek glassworks its final production was acquired. The collections continue to expand with unique pieces by leading regional glassmakers. The Horácká Gallery manages mass-produced sets and original glass from 53 artists.
