CHURCH OF ST. WENCESLAS IN ZVOLE

The church is a tribute not only to the patron saint of the country, but also to Abbot Vejmluva, who was baptised with the same name. The dome of the church, decorated with a lantern in the shape of a princely hat, is reflected in the surface of the pond and above the entrance to the church you will find the symbol of a W, the initial letter of the names of the two patrons.

The church was built in its present form in 1713-1717 according to the design of Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel. The rebuilt Baroque church has the floor plan of a cross and is defined by a geometric outline composed of circles inscribed on the foundations. The dome above the nave culminates in the St. Wenceslas Crown.
