THE BRTNICE CIRCUIT

The pleasant ride along roads leading along fields can be completed in about 2 to 2.5 hours. You can extend your ride by visiting the ruins of Rokštejn Castle, the historical centre of Brtnice and the car museum in Příseka.

The Brtnice circuit begins and ends in the village of Příseka. But you can start it anywhere along the route. A detailed plan of the whole trip can be found on the map below.

If you're in the mood for exploring and having some fun, then you can combine cycling with some interesting stops. We have several tips for you:

  • 1)   The Ruins of Rokštejn Castle

The Ruins of Rokštejn Castle are among the largest castle ruins in the region.  It rises on a rock above the valley of the Brtnice river and you can admire the body of two castle palaces, a tower or the last remaining parts of farm buildings. You can do this trip any time. This 800-year-old monument is open to the public without restrictions.

  • 1)   The town of Brtnice

About halfway through the trip you will reach the town of Brtnice, which was voted the Historical Town of the Year in 2018. It got its name from the beehives (brtí), which were located here. The city has a rich history and boasts more than forty cultural monuments. These include a Renaissance town hall, two Baroque bridges, a château, a monastery, churches, chapels, a granary, town houses and other interesting buildings.

 

  • 2)   The Museum of cars at Příseka Château

In the village of Příseka, visit the castle, whose history dates back to the 13th century. Inside the unique museum of cars and old toys awaits you. In addition to the exhibits, the museum also includes a playroom for children. After the exhibition, head to the adjacent café for a bite to eat.
