Historical festival Barchan

In June, after the feast of St. Vitus (June 15), a festival with a strange name - Barchan - is held every year in Jemnice. It is said that it is one of the oldest in Bohemia and Moravia.

The process of celebrations has changed frequently in the past. However, the core of the whole celebration never changed. This is the running of four messengers who carry messages to their queen Eliška Přemyslovna. Since 2014, the Barchan Run has been inscribed on the prestigious List of Intangible Assets of Traditional Folk Culture in the Czech Republic.
