The Jewish cemetery in Ledeč nad Sázavou from 1601 is located in the western part of the town behind Hrnčířská Street. There is a ceremonial hall and valuable Baroque tombstones, the oldest of which date from 1679 and 1706. It was used for burials until the Second World War and about one thousand Jewish inhabitants are buried here. The cemetery has undergone renovation work in recent years. The gravestones of Gustav Mahler's grandparents were found during these renovations. The mortuary was restored, the fallen tombstones were erected again and the surrounding area was landscaped.
