Moravian-Budejovice Jews initially buried their dead in cemeteries in nearby villages, such as Jemnice, Police or Třebíč. Later they established their own cemetery, but it disappeared during the 18th century.
In 1908 the town provided land for a new cemetery. The cemetery with its spacious ceremonial hall and the gravedigger's house are the only reminders of the existence of the Jewish community in Moravské Budějovice. There are only new tombstones in the cemetery; the old tombstones from the original cemetery were not taken here.
