The first mention of Jews in Moravské Budějovice dates back to the 14th century. The medieval Jewish quarter with its synagogue and cemetery disappeared after the Jews were expelled from the town in 1564. Modern settlement is recorded from the middle of the 19th century.
The Art Nouveau synagogue from 1910 in today's Pražská Street was used as a warehouse after the war and was demolished in 1977 during the construction of the bus station. The site is now the offices of a transport company. A preserved monument to the Jewish community is the cemetery.
