Virtual tourAlready in the 13th century there was a small synagogue in the Jewish quarter of Velké Meziříčí, which later became a winter prayer room and a cantor's flat with a Jewish school. The old synagogue was built after the Thirty Years' War as a Gothic-Renaissance building. It stands off the line of the street facing east. The Baroque-Classicist entrance portal dates from the 18th century and is complemented by paintings. It had the capacity for 85 men inside and 63 women in the gallery.
On opening of the new synagogue, the old one was used as a warehouse. At the end of the last century, it was repaired and since 1996 it has served as an exhibition hall of the museum. It is currently closed due to renovation work.
